LimboLand - some thoughts while waiting for the final results on what a Doctorate in Visual Arts might be in the world at large
This comment had its birth in a conversation with one of my daughters who had travelled by air on university business. University staff had made all travel arrangements and properly addressed her ticket with doctoral title. A modest emergency arose on the flight, and flight staff rushed to the Dr., to be confronted by a research scientist in Plant Physiology. Another of my daughters might have been of some benefit in that she is a psychologist. She could have helped the patient to recognise what was happening and reconcile them to their condition. Myself, if all goes well, would probably have to rush over there and paint their portrait; the medical jargon of television sitcoms being replaced by artistic ones to suit the situation such as “the light is all wrong”, “can you fly at an angle to the sun - we have some contre-jour going on here” in a frantic attempt to save the portrait, and with it, the patient.

do you have a tail?
My aunt has a doctorate in women's studies and was confronted with the same situation (why is it always on planes?). She simply replied "I'm a REAL doctor".
Similarly, my sister, who is a vet, just asked if they had a tail.
